Mike Green is appointed as new CEO of Lommel SK

City Football Group is delighted to announce the appointment of Mike Green as the new Chief Executive Officer of Lommel SK.

Mike Green has spent the past 16 years at City Football Group. He joined Manchester City’s charitable arm, City in the Community (CITC), in 2004 as a coach and quickly expanded into different managerial positions until he was named Head of CITC in 2012. Over the last 9 years, Mike Green has led the organisation through a period of sustained growth, from 30 to 115 members of staff and from £600k to £3.5m in annual turnover. The charity – focused on supporting health, education and inclusion through football – has become recognised as one of the leading football charities in the UK, winning multiple awards including a Special Recognition Award from the Queen’s Representative for Services to the Community in each of the last two years.

Mike Green is acknowledged within City Football Group for growing and mentoring people within the business with many successes across CFG within local and international teams. Furthermore, he has developed important senior relationships with both the Manchester City Council and the Premier League, leading to representation on various health and education boards on behalf of CITC, as well as being instrumental in the growth of CFG's global community footprint.

Following his appointment as new Chief Executive Officer of Lommel SK, Mike Green said:

“I'm honoured to have been appointed to this new position at such an important time in the history of Lommel SK and lead this journey under the umbrella of City Football Group. The Club has solid foundations and an incredible potential for growth both on and off the pitch. I very much look forward to use my background and experience to ensure that development happens and we continue to make a positive impact in the city.

I'm really grateful to City Football Group for this opportunity to grow professionally within our football family and being able to learn, share and implement our know-how in several areas. After my amazing experience as Head of CITC, I'm really excited and entirely prepared for the challenge of taking Lommel SK to the next level”

Diego Gigliani, Managing Director of City Football Group’s EU, Latam and Partner Clubs, added:

“After an extensive and competitive internal and external search, we are very excited to have chosen Mike to lead Lommel SK. His experience at City Football Group in leading a large and complex organisation through a period of fast growth is precisely what the club needs. Furthermore, given his 16 year history with the group, Mike is ideally suited to help integrate Lommel into CFG and will embody City’s ways of working, values and community focus locally.

We’re always proud to see how football players and coaches progress through City Football Group’s family of clubs. With Mike’s appointment at Lommel, we’re also able to show that these opportunities extend to our highly talented and passionate workforce as well.”
