Shenzhen, China, February 27, 2024 – Shenzhen Peng City Football Club today hosted a launch event ahead of the 2023-24 Chinese Super League season. The Club’s new crest, full squad and 2024 ticketing programme were presented to its supporters, media and the Shenzhen football community at the in-person celebratory event.
The newly launched Club crest is based on a circular layout, consistent with many of City Football Group’s sister clubs, including Manchester City, New York City and Mumbai City. The new crest aims to highlight the modernity, technology and innovation of Shenzhen, an international metropolis that the Club will now call home.
The abbreviation "SZ” is used throughout the crest design. The two letters are made from simple and bright triangular shapes which represent many well-known landmarks in Shenzhen, such as the Window of the World, Wutong Mountain and Shenzhen Flower Bougainvillea. The sky-blue background, also the colour of the team's home jersey, symbolizes the sea and the openness and inclusiveness of Shenzhen as a coastal city.
David Tang, CEO of City Football Group China, said:
“The future of Shenzhen Peng City Football Club is very bright. The Club will harness the unique Shenzhen characteristics and carry forward the Shenzhen spirit. We will work hard to establish meaningful and close ties with the city, fans and the communities of Shenzhen. The aim of the Club is to work together with the people of Shenzhen to build strong foundations and become a Club that represents the city and makes everyone in Shenzhen proud.”
