City Football Group invests in football related businesses around the world, connected by the common aim to increase participation and engagement with football.


In January 2019, City Football Group was announced as the anchor investor in Sapphire Sport, a US-based sport venture capital fund which, in addition to CFG, comprises owners and investors from across major US sports leagues; NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL and MLS as well as from related industries.

City Football Group and Goals Soccer Centres announced a joint venture in July 2017. Goals are one of the largest and most popular operators of dedicated 5-a-side pitches in the United States. The partnership will see the creation of recreational soccer facilities in the US and Canada, with three new facilities having been added so far - Pomona (2017), Rancho Cucamonga (2018) and Covina (2018).

City Football Group has been active in the esports space since 2017, when the Group signed its first professional FIFA player. Currently CFG’s FIFA team boasts 16 players across 8 countries, having won 6 major trophies including the inaugural eChampions League in 2019 and 2021’s ePremier League. The Group expanded its esports offering into Fortnite in 2021 and now has a squad of 3 professional players across USA and Europe.

City Football Group started a partnership with leading esports & gaming lifestyle media platform FaZe Clan in 2019, creating new experiences for fans of both gaming and football. Throughout the partnership, City players, legends and esports players have teamed up with FaZe Clan talent to create engaging content, launch limited-edition product collaborations and have hosted each other at events in Manchester, Los Angeles and online.
